It's that time of year again. Exams are coming soon and before that I have coursework that is going to test my studious abilities to the max. I've been so blah see about that I keep putting the work off because, in a childish way of putting it, "I don't wanna". Now it's getting close and the stress is coming, which is how I work. I know it's the same for some people, but does anyone else feel like they NEED stress to work, the thill of the threatening deadline to make them work so much and so fast they end up losing sleep and then crashing afterwards? I do, maybe that means I'm suited for journalism, any other ideas from people?
It certainly doesn't help me though that there are some mice in my house, my housemates won't get here till at least a week so I'm stuck with them. I've given up looking right now as it's just too much hassle, even if there were two in my room a couple of days ago.
What's getting me through this time is my new ipod shuffle (green <3) which means I can listen to music wherever I am. Sometimes it's a hinderance in the library but the rest of the time I love having a soundtrack to my life. Right now on my ipod "walking" mood playlist (for when I need to think, relax, or just feel something other than alone which is what I am in the house right now for a week) is:
Maximo Park - all 3 albums (I am a BIG fan, can't wait to see them on my birthday!)
The Organ - Grab That Gun (oooohhh yeah)
Joshua Radin - We Were Here (excellent contemplative music)
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing (great for letting emotions go)
Feeder - Comfort in Sound (something about it good life soundtrack music)
Journey - The Essential Journey (no reason needed!)
Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won (great for outdoors, check out Bron Yr Aur Stomp)
Ochre - Lemodie (JUST AMAZING, some kinda reminds me of Timesplitters 2 :s )
Coldplay - X&Y (for relaxing on the grass looking up at a clear blue sky - yes there are those days in Wales)
Eskimoe Joe - A Song Is A City (something special about it, but I can't put my finger on it, I like that)
R.E.M - Murmur (also good for outside)
The Kinks - Village Green Preservation Society (also outdoors, in a park on a sunny day or walking on a quite dirt track)
The Shins - Oh Inverted World (gotta have some Shins, I am a Scrubs fan afterall!)
Thirteen Senses - The Invitation (good alone-time music)
Yes - Fragile (something weird in the mix)
Trace Bundy - Solomon's Splendor (acoustic summer music, a summer soundtrack all in itself)
That's it, hope everyone's keeping well and if anyone has some exams soon check out my poem "Why Are We Tested". I'm in the mood for writing poetry at the moment.
